15-day Portrait Workshop for Bachelor of Visual Arts
Date: 1st to 15th February 2021
A portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant. The intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person. A workshop on portrait making and demonstrations was organized for the students of the Bachelor of Visual Arts. Shashidhar Gobbur, a young upcoming artist from Karnataka demonstrated portrait painting and interacted with the students. He has a BFA in painting from Gulbarga University and Masters in Painting from College of Arts, Delhi. The students were introduced to study the character of a person and observe the model or subject. They were given practical demonstrations to understand media like pencil shading and advance to different color mediums. The workshop also gave tips for good mounting, framing and displaying of the works. The workshop concluded with display of the works by students followed by discussions.
